Less stress working your business in the holidays

When it comes down to your business and the holidays, it can get very stressful. Here are 4 tips to juggle them both while reducing your stress ๐Ÿ˜€

Tip 1 – Learn to say NO!

You will find that because you work from home, the assumptions that happen all through the year of you having countless time and nothing to do will increase, meaning that others will give you more stress. Becky from the PTA will expect dozens of home-baked cookies (just buy them) Aunt Susie will assume you have nothing to do and before you realize it you have been volunteered to hand tie 500 bows on a tree that you won’t see again after that day.

It is ok to set your boundaries and not have them be pushed, you know what you need to get done and what you really want to get done with your family. Set those priorities and remember its ok to say NO, to all the extra things that are not of benefit to you, your family and your business.

It's OK to say no to someone for extra tasks, it doesn't mean you aren't helpful or a good person, it means you respect your boundaries! Click To Tweet

Tip 2 – Be Strategic with your time!

All through the year time is one of your most precious gifts, but in the holiday season, it quickly goes to needing 80 hours a day just to keep up. Going along with the learning to say no, you have to start planning your time. If your kids are anything like mine, even though I homeschool and I have them all day anyway, they will quickly need even more of your time and attention as they chase towards holiday activities.

pick and choose those activities, speaking as a mother, I will choose to take them to see Santa, over watching a pre-recorded video. However, I am always present for my team calls because the work done in December will continue through the rest of the year. One of the systems I use to schedule my day is a color blocking schedule, you can find the instructions here.ย

Tip 3 – Don’t Stress

One of the biggest reasons we get so caught up this time of year is the trying to make everything perfect. The wanting everything the way it needs to be, the countless gifts under the tree, multiple home cooked meals, the perfect decor. I want to give you permission to just enjoy the season, don’t worry about the gifts, or competing with others. Just focus on doing what will make you and your family happy. This also means giving you permission to spend some time with your family and doing the activities instead of working from sun up to sun down and beyond. later in this series, we are going to talk about efficient choices that will allow you to work your business and have that time as well.

Tip 4 – Take Time for you.

If you are not taking some ‘me time’ you will find that you are more stressed and less efficient. Now I am not talking about taking a shower and washing your hair, I talking about genuine moments for yourself. Whether it be meditations, coloring in an adult coloring book or just sitting and watching a good TV show. I have to admit my latest obsession is The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu.ย What shows would you recommend?

By taking this much-needed self-time, you can be more focused, aware and present in your business and your life. Click To Tweet

These are just four tips to avoid the stress of juggling both a business and the holiday season. This series will continue with tips to be more efficient in your home.
